Carnegie Research Fellowship Program

CRRC is happy to announce the Carnegie Research Fellowship Program (CRFP). The program offers exceptional research opportunities in the United States for scholars from the South Caucasus.

Specifically, scholars in the social sciences and the humanities may apply for individual, non-degree research opportunities at universities and institutes in the United States. The program is directed at advanced researchers that already have a demonstrated track record in research. The research period lasts up to a full semester (4 months), starting either September 2010 or January 2011.

Invitation to Questionnaire Training

It is time for yet another training on questionnaire development! This time we will work on a draft questionnaire for a survey on displacement in Georgia. To get the most out of the training, we will go through and discuss the questionnaire question by question under the lead of CRRC's experienced questionnaire designers. The training targets both you who have no previous experience of research surveys, as well as those of you who are more familiar with questionnaire design but would like to deepen your knowledge. The questionnaire will be circulated to participants in advance.

Workshop: Questionnaire Development, Tbilisi Georgia, February 3 - Benjamin A.T. Graham (ENG)

In this workshop we will go through a draft questionnaire, line by line. This is the best way of teaching how to design a quality questionnaire. If you're interested in how survey research works, you should seriously consider attending this workshop. The event will be facilitated by Aaron Erlich and Hans Gutbrod.

Presentation: For Whom is Culture Developed in Post-Soviet Georgia? Tbilisi, Georgia, February 2 - Hulya Sakarya (ENG)

Heritage as a Resource: For Whom is Culture Developed in Post-Soviet Georgia?

Temple University PhD Candidate in Anthropology Hulya Sakarya will discuss her research on heritage, both its revival as a post-Rose Revolutionary development tool and its potential with respect to Georgia's diverse constituents. Her research asks how Tbilisi's culturally diverse social fabric can be compared to diversity in American and European settings. She also conducted a unique photodocumentation project during Tbilisoba 2009 with Tbilisi State University students as co-collaborators. Her talk will include pictures from this project as well as a frank discussion on if and how Georgia is multicultural.

UC Berkeley Scholars Workshop. April 17 - May 1, 2010

The Institute of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ISEEES) at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), in collaboration with the Caucasus Research Resource Centers (CRRC), is soliciting proposals from scholars in the Social Sciences and History from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to participate in a two-week workshop at UCB from April 17 to May 1, 2010. The workshop is funded by a generous grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
